Sumire Mochi is among the barley cultivars we’ve been growing the longest, for good reason! Highly nutritious plants produce a large number of tillers and gorgeous purple seed heads. The purple/beige grain is highly nutritious and contains gluten, a very rare trait for food purpose barley.
Our Sumire Mochi hasn’t produced significantly more tillers or increased in height after 3 years of selection, however seed head size has increased.
